The best-executed idea wins.

Having a great idea or having a goal means little if you can’t put it into action. The better your execution, the greater your chance of success.

How many people claim they had an idea first— but someone else made it real? How many people never reach their goals because they didn’t take the right steps?

The world belongs to those who act

Good execution can be learned, and so can a bias for action. Acting isn’t a substitute for thinking, planning, or reflection. They’re complementary skills, and all are required for maximum success.

Incentives drive behavior— which often becomes habitual. Habits are reinforced by your environment. Combine these levers to drive you towards your goals1.

Most of us have periods where drive fades. Push through them. Learn from them. Use them to build your resolve and to continue despite setbacks.

Many things in life don’t have clear starting points. Pick a direction and begin. Figure it out as you go. Momentum is powerful— once you start, it’s easier to keep going.

  1. Concisely: Craft your environment. Use incentives. Build good habits. ↩︎
